Your first visit includes a full intake covering your health history, movement patterns, and goals, followed by your first treatment, so you leave with both a plan and some initial relief, not just a conversation.

Is acupuncture painful?

Lindsey's approach uses gentle, Japanese-style needling, which is generally much softer than what people picture when they think of acupuncture. Most clients describe sensations as mild pressure or warmth rather than pain.

How is this different from dry needling at a physical therapy office?

Dry needling targets one localized area of pain. Acupuncture, as practiced here, looks at your whole system, how your movement, stress, digestion, and sleep are all connected, using both local and full-body treatment points.

How many sessions will I need?

This is very symptom dependent and whether we are dealing with something chronic or acute. Often, people start with weekly sessions for 4-6 visits and assess from there.

Can I combine acupuncture and nutrition support?

Yes, acupuncture and nutrition sessions can be booked separately or as an integrated package, depending on what your body needs.

Do you take insurance?

For acupuncture, Instinctual Health is in-network with PacificSource, Regence/Anthem/BCBS, and Optum for Oregon residents and visitors. Health insurance, FSA/HSA, motor vehicle accident claims, and workers' compensation are all accepted, and superbills are provided on request for out-of-network plans. Nutrition sessions don't currently accept insurance directly. If your insurance isn't listed, Lindsey also treats patients two days a week at Winding Willow Acupuncture and Wellness, which accepts a much wider range of plans including Oregon Health Plan/Medicaid.

What does a session cost?

Acupuncture and Nutrition sessions are $250 for an initial visit and $160 for return visits. Full pricing details are available on the Pricing and Insurance page.

Yes, this practice is trauma-informed and built as an affirming space for women and LGBTQIA+ folks navigating pain, injury, and long-term health.
